You may have noticed dogs wearing shoes when they’re outdoors or on a walk and wonder “Should Dogs Wear Shoes”? While dogs can wear shoes, they’re as good without them, even though they offer a degree of protection.
Most dogs do not need to wear shoes because of their high body temperature. Their paws have adapted to the cold and heat and your dog will be fine without them. In the summer, having your dog go bare-pawed would help in dissipating heat, as the paws are where some of the sweat glands are.
Shoes or paw pads may throw your dog off balance as it is a foreign sensation around your dog’s paws. This way, your dog may not have as much grip or agility should it need to make a quick dash around during an activity. A dog’s paws are insulated and is a tough patch of skin so dog shoes aren’t a necessity.
